Exposure details: Canon Rebel XT modified at ISO1600 (22 x 4 min) 88 min plus flats, dark flats, darks and bias frames
Date Posted: 8/18/2010 10:17:00 PM
Comments: prime focus 5'' f5 refractor. Stacked using Deep Sky Stacker. I've changed to a portable setup now (we moved and so no observatory yet!) and with weather and the teething pains of going portable this is my first photo in some time that I think has been worthwhile. All in all I think it turned out pretty good! |

Comments: prime focus 5'' f5 refractor. Stacked using DeepSkyStacker and 2x drizzle and cropped. I've been using a Bahtinov mask on the 5'' and it sure makes focusing easier. Now I need to make one for the 8'' Newtonian |

Comments: prime focus Antares Newtonian 8''f5. The wind was kicking up so the stars aren't quite as round as I'd like but all in all, not bad I think |

Comments: prime focus Antares Newtonian 8''f5. The last quarter moon was up and about mucking with the sky darkness but this turned out pretty darn good. Autoguiding was working flawlessly and focussing this new scope is quite easy. The stars are nice and sharp |

Comments: prime focus WO SD66. Boy, what a difference the scope makes. Taking this picture was easy. Tracking was bang on, Focus is as close as I've ever gotten it. What more can you ask for? Wait, must not ask that question :-) |

Comments: Pentax 5'' f5 refractor at prime focus This one turned out really well. The image capture was done over 2 nights (mainly because my batteries died (gotta do something about that). There are three other smaller galaxies visible at the bottom of the frame if you look carefully. I'm starting to get the hang of controlling the background sky without affecting the rest of the picture. Progress! |
